Virtual Stickies

Original Concept and AR Application

Introduction

Virtual Stickies was an app I developed individually for my Advanced User Experience Design class. The project prompt was to create an application that utilized an alternate reality (AR) feature. My app is a location-based tool that allows the user to make, personalize, and post virtual sticky notes. Features that can be attached to each sticky note include different color options, alarms, drawing, and voice messages. I thought this concept could be potentially helpful in rentals or for people with memory problems (dementia, Alzheimer's, their caretakers, etc.). Linked accounts could also allow for sharing notes or having family plans. This app is valuable in that it can have many potential uses, and it is simple and effective in its design and functionality.

Development

For this project, I used Adobe XD due to its prototyping capabilities. It was not my first time using the program. I found it to be easy to use for this project as the design was simple. I prefer the design interface in Figma, but XD had some unique prototyping features at the time that made me choose to design the app in it.

Results

This application was received well by my professor and peers. I had multiple critiques and meetings with feedback to help me develop the features, overall look, and functionality of the application. I presented my project at the end of the semester to the class, and many ideas for how this app could potentially be used were provided by my peers. I received an A for the project.
